Technologically advanced laser light sources are becoming increasingly common in the home entertainment projector scene. A 4,000-lumen benchmark at 1080p resolution is now offered with entry-level projector models. The Optoma HZ40HDR is one of the most affordable laser projectors on the market, boasting 4,000 laser lumens, Full HD native resolution, and a projection size of up to 300 inches diagonally.

For outdoor movie entertainment, this means the HZ40HDR can cover a 20x11-foot screen from a 30-foot projection distance while delivering sufficient brightness.

Image Quality

As the model name suggests, the Optoma HZ40HDR can receive and display HDR metadata, promising true-to-life color reproduction and a 24 frames per second cinematic image refresh rate. At its core lies the Optoma Laser DLP chip, which delivers high-contrast images and accurate reproduction of the Rec.709 color gamut.

Convenience in an Outdoor Environment

The HZ40HDR is built on a new compact Optoma chassis, up to 34% smaller than previous Optoma models. Its dimensions are 10.79" x 8.5" x 4.49", and it weighs 6.61 lbs. The Optoma HZ40HDR consumes a maximum of 139 Watts and can be powered by power stations for extended periods. The lifespan of the laser light source is rated at 30,000 hours.

Great Fit for Backyard Outdoor Movie Entertainment

Given its attractive price and advanced specifications, the Optoma HZ40HDR is poised to become a significant upgrade for owners of 9- to 16-foot inflatable screens and a standard model for 20x11-foot screens.
